Water Softeners and Water Treatment in Bountiful, UT

What we handle in Bountiful

Bountiful sits on the same hard water supply as the rest of Davis County, and hard water does not announce itself. It shows up slowly, as scale inside a water heater, spots on glassware, and skin that never quite feels rinsed. We test the water first, then recommend the system that matches what is in it.

Water Quality Testing

We test before we recommend anything: hardness, iron, chlorine, pH, and what your city is actually delivering to your street. Hardness swings by city and by season here.

How Bountiful water treatment starts

Water treatment in Bountiful starts with a test, not a sales pitch. We write estimates for homeowners deciding between a softener and reverse osmosis (one on April 9, 2026), and we run water treatment diagnostics that measure the actual hardness and mineral content of a specific Bountiful home’s water before recommending anything (one on July 28, 2026). Softener installs follow for households ready to stop fighting scale. More on water treatment.

“We had a water softener and RO system installed. Also cleanup and fixed some of the pipes and valves under my kitchen sink. Couldn’t be happier.”

Why we test before we sell a system

A water softener and a reverse osmosis system solve different problems. A softener removes the calcium and magnesium that scale up pipes, water heaters, and appliances; reverse osmosis improves drinking water taste and removes dissolved solids a softener leaves behind. Selling one when a Bountiful home needs both, or neither yet, wastes money either way. Check the signs of hard water and compare water softener versus reverse osmosis before we arrive, or look at water softener installation directly.

Is Bountiful's water actually hard?

Yes. Bountiful City’s own water quality report says much of the city’s source water is hard to very hard, in the range of 15 to 30 grains per gallon, hard enough to scale up a water heater and spot dishes within a few years. A water test during the visit tells you exactly how hard your specific water is before we recommend a softener size. Source: Bountiful City water quality report.

Do I need a water softener, reverse osmosis, or both in Bountiful?

It depends on what the water test finds. A softener handles hardness for the whole house, protecting pipes and appliances. Reverse osmosis is usually added at the kitchen sink for drinking water quality. Some Bountiful homes need both, some need only a softener. We do not recommend reverse osmosis until the softener question is settled first.

How long does a water softener install take in Bountiful?

Most Bountiful softener installs are completed in a single visit. The first visit, inside the standard 3-hour appointment window, is the water test and the quote; the install is scheduled once the system is confirmed.

My water heater had broken and Thomas was there within a day, and the water heater was replaced and running smoothly the following day. I was grateful for Thomas’ professionalism and knowledge on what was wrong. He explained it in a way that made it easy for me to understand. The parts and the labor were all set out for me to see what would need to be done and how much it would cost. I feel the price was quite reasonable. I know I have purchased a good product. I appreciated Thomas’ cheerfulness. I felt like I was in good hands. I will definitely have them come back for any water or plumbing needs. I have for my home.
