Why the company is called Rare Breed

Court Lundberg grew up working on his grandfather’s bison farm. Bison are not cattle. A full grown bison can clear six feet from a standing start, so one weak spot in a fence and the herd is out causing havoc in the next county. That is where “do it right the first time” comes from, and it is not a slogan we bought from an agency.

Court picked the name to attract the plumbers he wanted as much as the customers. His view on pay is on the record: he prices the work so his plumbers can buy a house. His view on experience is that plenty of people do not have twenty years of experience, they have one year of experience repeated twenty times, and the difference between those two people is whether anybody bothered to train them. And the standard he holds the shop to is his own line: good is never good enough.

Plumber and Plumbing Apprentice

This is the job the company is built around. We hire licensed journeymen, and we hire apprentices with no plumbing background at all, because it is easier to train somebody from scratch than to untrain bad habits. What we will not do is hand you a van and leave you to figure it out.

What you get:

A stocked truck and current diagnostic tools, including cameras and pressure gauges, so you can diagnose instead of guess
Ongoing in-house training through Rare Breed Academy, including journeyman exam prep, isometric drawings, and pipe fitting
A path from apprentice to journeyman with the hours documented and the license support to finish it

Work across three shops in Sandy, Bountiful, and Orem, so you are not commuting the length of the valley every day
A dispatcher and a CX team whose job is to keep your day from falling apart

What we expect:

You put a gauge on it before you quote a repipe, and a camera down it before you quote a liner
You explain the work to the homeowner before you start it, and you get their agreement
You tell people the truth about what they do not need, even when the invoice would have been bigger
You leave the house cleaner than you found it
A valid driver’s license with a clean record, and the ability to pass a background check

Requirements: Utah journeyman or apprentice registration with DOPL, or a genuine willingness to start one. Residential service experience helps but is not required for apprentice roles. Attitude is the part we cannot teach.

Operations Manager

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee the technicians in the field, run weekly training and progress reviews, and grow revenue without spending our integrity to do it.

Responsibilities:

Oversee daily operations, including field technicians and the sales side of service
Develop and implement strategies to grow revenue and control cost
Monitor and analyze key performance indicators in our scheduling system
Run weekly training and progress reviews with technicians on quality and customer experience
Own customer relationships through escalation and resolution
Hire, train, and manage staff against clear goals

Requirements: minimum 5 years in operations and sales management, excellent communication and leadership, strong analytical and problem solving skills, ability to run multiple projects at once, valid driver’s license with a clean record.

Customer Experience Representative

Rare Breed is a family owned company that values empathy, honesty, and education. We are looking for a detail oriented, customer focused CX Rep to handle customer interactions, schedule appointments, and keep records accurate.

Responsibilities:

Answer inbound calls professionally and book appointments
Follow up with customers after service and on unsold estimates
Maintain detailed records of customer interactions, service requests, and scheduling updates
Coordinate daily with the CX lead and dispatch
Take part in company sponsored training and team meetings

Requirements: strong communication skills, excellent organization and multitasking, calm under pressure, strong active listening, field service software familiarity preferred, a team player with a customer first mindset.

Dispatcher

We are looking for a well organized, detail oriented Dispatcher to keep the day running, coordinating between customers, technicians, and office staff.

Responsibilities:

Schedule and coordinate service and install appointments, and hold the 3-hour appointment window
Maintain the on call schedule and after hours service procedures
Document communication for each customer interaction
Answer customer questions on scheduling, lead times, and invoicing
Review completed work orders for accuracy, and prepare invoices and timecards

Requirements: strong communication and organization, problem solving under pressure, field service software familiarity preferred, commitment to accurate documentation.
