These Terms and Conditions cover how you and Rare Breed Plumbing, Heating, and Air work together: what you can expect from us, what we need from you, how estimates and payment work, and how we handle phone calls, texts, and email. By requesting service, booking online, or contacting us through this website, you agree to them.

Who these terms are with

Rare Breed Plumbing, Heating, and Air, Utah License #11166591-5501, operating from three shops:

Scheduling and arrival

When we book a visit we give you a 2-hour arrival window rather than an all day window. If the job before yours runs long, the office calls you before the window closes. If you need to cancel or move an appointment, call (385) 449-0144 as early as you can so we can give the slot to someone else.

Somebody 18 or older needs to be home and able to make decisions about the work. We also need safe access to the work area, the water shutoff, and the electrical panel, and we need pets secured. If we cannot get to the equipment, or if the situation is not safe to work in, we will tell you what has to change before we can start.

Estimates, diagnostics, and pricing

Estimates for a replacement or a new installation are free. Repair work is different: diagnosing a repair takes a licensed technician’s time and tools, so a repair diagnostic carries a fee. We tell you that fee before we schedule the visit, not after we arrive. After hours calls are priced differently from daytime calls, and we tell you that up front too.

Once the technician has diagnosed the problem you get a price for the repair before any work starts. You decide whether to go ahead. If we open something up and find a bigger problem than the one we quoted, we stop and re-quote rather than running up the invoice.

Prices quoted in an estimate are good for the period stated on that estimate. Prices published on this website are subject to change and are not an offer.

Payment

Payment is due when the work is complete unless your written estimate or invoice says otherwise. We accept the payment methods listed on your invoice. Financing, when you choose it, is provided by Synchrony Bank under Synchrony’s own application, terms, and approval process. Rare Breed is not the lender.

Warranty and standing behind the work

The workmanship warranty for your job, and any manufacturer warranty on equipment we install, are stated on your written estimate and on your invoice. Those documents govern. Manufacturer warranties are provided by the manufacturer and passed through to you, and they usually require the equipment to be registered and maintained.

Warranties do not cover damage from misuse, freezing, someone else’s later work on the same system, or a part of the system we were not hired to touch.

If something is not right with work we did, call the office at (385) 449-0144 before you do anything else, and tell us what happened. We would rather come back out than have you live with it.

Permits, code, and inspections

Where the work requires a permit, we pull it and we schedule the inspection. Utah code changes, and a system that was legal when it was installed may no longer meet current code. If we find a code issue while we are on another job, we will point it out and price the correction separately. You are free to have it done or not.

Communication, calls, and text messages

Communication is central to how we work, so by contacting us or using our services you agree to receive messages from us by phone, email, and text.

  • What we send: appointment confirmations, arrival notifications, estimates, invoices, service follow ups, occasional promotions, and answers to your questions.
  • How often: only as often as your service and your questions require.
  • Cost: message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier.
  • Recording: calls to and from our office may be recorded for training and quality. Tell us at the start of the call if you do not want it recorded.

Opting out

  • Text STOP to any message to stop texts.
  • Text HELP for help.
  • Use the unsubscribe link in any email to stop emails.
  • Contact us to change your preferences or ask a question about them.

Opting out of marketing messages does not stop the operational messages about a job you have booked, like an arrival notification or an invoice.

Your responsibilities

Please give us accurate contact and address information, and let us know if it changes. Tell us what you already know about the problem and about any previous work on the system, including work someone else did. That history is often the fastest route to the right diagnosis.

Service limitations

We serve Salt Lake, Davis, Utah, Weber, Summit, Tooele, and Wasatch counties. Weather, road conditions, parts availability, utility shutoffs, and emergencies ahead of you in the queue can all affect timing. Rare Breed Plumbing, Heating, and Air is not responsible for delays caused by things outside our control, and we will keep you informed when one of them happens.

This website

The text, photographs, and graphics on this website belong to Rare Breed Plumbing, Heating, and Air and may not be copied or republished without permission. Articles on this site are general information for Utah homeowners, not a diagnosis of your specific system. Gas, electrical, and sewer work is dangerous, and nothing here is an instruction to do it yourself.

If you smell gas, leave the building first, then call 911 or Dominion Energy from outside.

Privacy

What we collect, how we use it, and how to have it deleted are covered in our Privacy Policy. We do not sell your personal information.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, and any dispute arising from them belongs in the state or federal courts serving Salt Lake County, Utah.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as our services change. The date at the top shows the last revision. If a change is significant we will say what changed.
