Duct Work, Airflow, and Filtration in Utah

We work on the system that actually moves your air: the duct, the airflow, the filtration, and the humidity. We do not sell add-on air purifiers.

What We Actually Do on Indoor Air

Dust, allergens, dry winter air, one room that never feels right. Most of that is not a problem you solve with a box bolted to the side of the furnace. It is an air system problem, and it starts with the duct, the airflow, and the filtration you already have.

Here is the honest version, the same one on our duct work page: we do not install air purification or air treatment equipment, and we do not clean ducts. Plenty of companies will quote you a purifier before anyone has checked whether the air is reaching your rooms at all. We would rather fix the duct.

What we do: repair, seal, insulate, and resize duct, size filtration to your real airflow and static pressure, balance ventilation, and add whole-home humidification for dry Utah winters. We cover Salt Lake, Davis, Utah, Weber, Summit, Tooele, Wasatch, Cache, and Box Elder counties from our shops in Sandy, Bountiful, and Orem. Call 385-449-0144 or book online.

Filtration Sized to Your System

A filter only works when it matches the system. We size media and housings to your actual airflow and static pressure, not to a rating printed on the box.

Ventilation and Whole-Home Humidification

Balanced ventilation brings in fresh air without throwing away the heat you paid for, and whole-home humidification takes the edge off a dry Utah winter. Both tie into the duct you already have.

How do I know if my home has poor air quality?

Dust that comes back in a day, allergies that are worse indoors, static shock all winter, or one room that never feels right. Start with the duct and the filtration, because that is where most of it comes from.

Why is indoor air often worse than outdoor air?

Because it is trapped. A house is built to hold conditioned air in, and a tighter, newer house holds everything else in with it: dust, dander, cooking, and whatever came in on your shoes. Utah adds inversion season on top of that. The fix is moving and filtering the air properly, not treating it after the fact.

Do filters really make that much of a difference?

Yes, when they match the system. A filter that is too restrictive starves the blower and makes everything worse. We size to airflow and static pressure, not to a label rating.

Do you install air purifiers or UV lights?

No. We do not install air purification or air treatment equipment. A purifier bolted to the side of a furnace does nothing if the air is not reaching the room, so we work on the duct, the airflow, and the filtration instead.

Do you clean ducts?

No. If your duct is leaking, crushed, undersized, or uninsulated, cleaning it changes nothing. We would rather fix the duct.

One room is always freezing. Is that the furnace?

Usually not. It is almost always duct: a run that is too small, too long, crushed, or leaking into a crawlspace. We measure airflow and static pressure before touching the equipment.

Can this lower my energy bills?

It can. Sealing duct that leaks into an attic or crawlspace stops you paying to heat the space between your floors, and correct airflow lets the equipment run the way it was designed to.

Why does my current filter not seem to help?

It may be undersized, badly sealed, or mismatched to your system. Air takes the easy path, and if it can go around the filter it will.

What areas do you serve?

We cover Salt Lake, Davis, Utah, Weber, Summit, Tooele, Wasatch, Cache, and Box Elder counties from our shops in Sandy, Bountiful, and Orem, with a 3-hour appointment window.

My wife and I just moved to Utah. We had a few things we wanted to upgrade and I needed a plumber. After looking over reviews and comparing a few quotes, I decided to use Rare Breed Plumbing. I am very glad I did. Chandler Horne did a great job of taking care of our bathroom faucet but he also checked on a few things for me since this was a new home and found an issue of high water pressure. (FYI- I have an Engineering Degree so I understand high water pressure, this was not just to sell more business.). I am very happy he found this as this could have been an issue in many other areas later on. Chandler also treated this repair as if it was he own home. This is the kind of person you want for any repair in your house. Thanks Chandler and because of you, I committed to Rare Breed for all our Plumbing, Heating and Air conditioner issues etc for the future. Thanks Chandler Horne!!

I randomly called Rare Breed Plumbing and I would definitely recommend them to others. Kyler showed up on time and was very thorough at explaining all my options. I had a drain issue and after talking to Kyler I decided to go with flushing the drain out with a water jet. My drains are all working perfectly now. Kyler also pointed out some other potential issues that could occur later and suggested some ways that I could easily correct them myself. He also cleaned up very well afterwards. Kyler was very professional and knowledgeable
