Hot water at the tap without a long wait

A circulation loop on the water heater you already have.

A long wait for hot water is wasted water and a morning that starts late. A recirculation pump keeps water in the far lines warm so the tap turns hot sooner. We look at the piping, pick a timer or demand control so the pump is not running at 2 a.m., and quote on a 3-hour appointment window.

Schedule Service

Comfort is the point. A pump that never sleeps is not.

An always-on recirc pump will give you instant hot water and a larger gas or electric bill. Controls exist for a reason. We size the pump to the loop and set it so it works when you do.

What a recirc pump does

What a recirc pump does

It moves water from the heater toward the far fixtures and back, so the line is already warm when you open the tap. You waste less water down the drain waiting. You also add a device that can leak, noise, and scale.

Dedicated return versus crossover

Dedicated return versus crossover

A true return line is the clean design. A crossover valve at the last fixture is the retrofit a lot of Utah homes get because there is no return. We tell you which one your walls will allow.

Timers, sensors, and demand buttons

Timers, sensors, and demand buttons

Run the pump on a morning schedule, on a temperature sensor, or on a button. Always-on is the lazy setting. We will not leave it there without saying what it costs.

Hard water and the pump

Hard water and the pump

Utah scale seizes cartridges and eats water heaters. It also lives in a recirc loop that stays warm more hours of the day. A salt-based softener still does the real protection. The pump does not soften anything.

Noise, check valves, and sleep

Noise, check valves, and sleep

A bad check valve lets hot water drift and makes the pump short-cycle. A pump mounted to thin board will hum through a wall. Those are install details, not fine print.

What we will not do

What we will not do

We will not promise instant hot water at every tap on a house with no path back to the heater, and we will not leave a pump running around the clock without telling you what that costs.

Map the far bathroom before we hang a pump

The fixture that takes forever is the one that tells us whether you need a dedicated return or a crossover at the last tap. We will not hang a pump on a system we have not walked.

Will this raise my water-heating bill?

It can, if it runs all day. A timer or demand control is how you keep the comfort and give the heater a rest.

Can you add this to a tankless?

Sometimes, with a tankless that is listed for recirc and a compatible pump. Many are not. We check the rating instead of forcing it.

Is this the same as a circulating boiler loop?

No. This is domestic hot water. A hydronic loop heats the house. Different water, different parts.

Do I need a new water heater too?

Only if the heater is already failing. A recirc pump on a tank that is about to leak is a pump on a countdown.

Gibb Van Orman was so nice and so honest. My furnace wasn’t heating the air it was blowing. Gibb found the problem instantly and it was a quick fix. Other servicers could have said I needed a new motor but Gibb was honest about it. He also fixed a small problem that a previous servicer from a different company handled incorrectly. Overall, this was another great service visit from Rare Breed.
