Water Heater Repair and Replacement in Northern Utah

No hot water, rusty water, or a tank that pops and rumbles? We will tell you honestly whether it needs a flush, a part, or a replacement.

Book Water Heater ServiceCall (385) 449-0144

Every Water Heater Service We Offer

That rumble from your tank is sediment, and in Utah it builds fast because we have some of the hardest water in the country. We install and service tank, tankless, and hybrid water heaters, and we will tell you honestly whether yours needs a flush and a part or a replacement. Ask us about flushing it yearly. It is the maintenance almost nobody does, and skipping it does not cost you the service call, it costs you years off the heater. Call 385-449-0144 or book online.

We cover Salt Lake, Davis, Utah, Weber, Summit, Tooele, and Wasatch counties from our shops in Sandy, Bountiful, and Orem. Every job is measured against our A STEPP standards, backed by a 2-hour arrival window and a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

Tank Water Heaters

A tank keeps about 50 gallons in reserve and needs no power to heat it. We size, install, strap, and vent them to code, with an expansion tank where the code calls for one.

Do you repair all types of water heaters?

Yes, including gas, electric, tankless, hybrid, and indirect models. Our technicians are trained on all the major systems.

How long should a water heater last?

Modern tanks usually make 10 to 12 years, not the 20 your grandparents got. The glass lining and the sacrificial anode rod both wear out sooner now, and Utah water is hard on both. At 6 to 10 years start budgeting. At 12 and up you are on borrowed time.

Is tankless better than a standard tank?

It depends. A tank keeps about 50 gallons in reserve and heats without power. Tankless never runs out, does not care about shower order, and typically carries a 15 year warranty against a tank’s 6. We size it to your house instead of selling one answer.

How often should I flush my water heater?

Yearly, and every six months if your water is as hard as most of the Wasatch Front. Skipping the flush does not cost you the service call, it costs you years off the heater.

Should the anode rod be replaced?

Yes, about every three years in water this hard. The anode is the part that corrodes so the tank does not, and once it is gone the tank starts eating itself.

Can I finance a new water heater?

Yes, for qualified homeowners. We will show you the monthly number alongside the repair option so you can compare them honestly.

What makes a Rare Breed install different?

We pull the permit, strap the tank, size the flue, and add an expansion tank where code requires it. The corners a cheap install cuts show up as a failed inspection or a flood.

Why do some water heaters fail early?

Undersized, poorly installed, or never flushed. Add Utah hard water and sediment cakes the bottom of the tank until it pops, rumbles, and finally splits.

What areas do you serve?

We cover Salt Lake, Davis, Utah, Weber, Summit, Tooele, and Wasatch counties from our shops in Sandy, Bountiful, and Orem, with a 2-hour arrival window and 24/7 emergency service.

The Kind of Service People Talk About.

We built Rare Breed to feel different, and it turns out, people noticed. These are their words. Their stories. What it’s like to be cared for by a team that shows up with purpose, listens with respect, and follows through with heart. The kind of experience that stays with you, long after the work is done.

I found Rare Breed by doing a Google search because we had a problem with our sink supply line spraying under our kitchen sink. Court came out the next morning and got everything fixed for us. He was really patient and did a great job of explaining everything he was doing and why. Additionally, he fixed our water pressure for us, as we had way too much pressure, so this will help to alleviate potential problems in the future. While I hope we won’t need any services anytime soon, I’ll definitely use Rare Breed when I do.

Had an emergency on a Saturday night with our toilet, came out Sunday morning and got us all setup with a brand new one for a really great price! Even coached me on things to look out for when doing a replacement. Super friendly, super fast, and they care about keeping their work area clean while they’re in your home. Highly recommended!

Thomas was prompt and helpful! He got the job done and explained everything very clearly . He didn’t try to upsell or do anything we didn’t need! Definitely would recommend!

Miguel took the time to explain what was going on with my pipes and my options to get them fixed! He left everything cleaned up when he was done.

Dawn

They were quick to respond and resolve our issue. They even lowered our price after the initial quote because the work wasn’t as complicated and they felt like it was honest. I will definitely be calling them again.

I needed an old shower drain/p-trap replaced under a concrete slab. Throughout the process, Rare Breed Plumbing, Heating and Air provided best in class communication, customer service and a very nice end product. From their office staff (Randy) to the Service Expert (Jesse), everything flowed effortlessly (pardon the pun). I couldn’t be happier and highly recommend doing business with this company.

Rare Breed Plumbing is awesome. Came out and was able to install a part for my outside water hookup. Talked through all the other options and gave me best thoughts and interest. Also was able to talk about other plumbing things I wanted to get addressed. Super fast and reliable.
