Do I really need to service my furnace every year?

Yes. A tune-up catches a cracked heat exchanger, a failing flame sensor, or a blocked flue before it becomes a no-heat call or a carbon monoxide problem.

What is actually included in a furnace tune-up?

We check the heat exchanger, test combustion and carbon monoxide, clean the burners and flame sensor, read static pressure and blower performance, and change the filter. If something is failing you hear about it before winter, not during it.

How long should a furnace last?

Most run 15 to 20 years, though efficiency and comfort usually slip earlier. We will tell you when a repair is the better spend and when it is not.

Is a heat pump better than a furnace?

It depends on the house and how cold it gets at your elevation. Heat pumps are efficient and clean but need backup heat in a hard cold snap. We compare both against your actual load.

Are there rebates for a new heating system?

Sometimes. Utility programs and federal credits change year to year, and manufacturers run their own promotions. We will tell you what is actually available at the time we quote, and we will not promise a number before we know it.

What does a heating diagnostic cost?

A service call is , and we waive it when you have us do the work. If we do not yet know what is wrong, a diagnostic is 9 during business hours or 9 after hours, and it is often rolled into the repair depending on how involved the diagnosis was. If you already know what you need and just want a price, that is an estimate, and those are often free. Ask when you book and we will tell you which one your job is. Estimates on replacement work are free.

Can I finance a new furnace?

Yes, for qualified homeowners. We will put the monthly number next to the repair option so you can compare them honestly.

Why do heating systems lose efficiency so fast?

Usually the duct, not the furnace. An oversized furnace pushing air through undersized duct runs hot, short cycles, and wears out early. We measure static pressure before we blame the equipment.

What areas do you serve?

We cover Salt Lake, Davis, Utah, Weber, Summit, Tooele, and Wasatch counties from our shops in Sandy, Bountiful, and Orem, with a 2-hour arrival window and 24/7 emergency service.

The Kind of Service People Talk About.

We built Rare Breed to feel different, and it turns out, people noticed. These are their words. Their stories. What it’s like to be cared for by a team that shows up with purpose, listens with respect, and follows through with heart. The kind of experience that stays with you, long after the work is done.

I found Rare Breed by doing a Google search because we had a problem with our sink supply line spraying under our kitchen sink. Court came out the next morning and got everything fixed for us. He was really patient and did a great job of explaining everything he was doing and why. Additionally, he fixed our water pressure for us, as we had way too much pressure, so this will help to alleviate potential problems in the future. While I hope we won’t need any services anytime soon, I’ll definitely use Rare Breed when I do.

Had an emergency on a Saturday night with our toilet, came out Sunday morning and got us all setup with a brand new one for a really great price! Even coached me on things to look out for when doing a replacement. Super friendly, super fast, and they care about keeping their work area clean while they’re in your home. Highly recommended!

Thomas was prompt and helpful! He got the job done and explained everything very clearly . He didn’t try to upsell or do anything we didn’t need! Definitely would recommend!

Miguel took the time to explain what was going on with my pipes and my options to get them fixed! He left everything cleaned up when he was done.

Dawn

They were quick to respond and resolve our issue. They even lowered our price after the initial quote because the work wasn’t as complicated and they felt like it was honest. I will definitely be calling them again.

I needed an old shower drain/p-trap replaced under a concrete slab. Throughout the process, Rare Breed Plumbing, Heating and Air provided best in class communication, customer service and a very nice end product. From their office staff (Randy) to the Service Expert (Jesse), everything flowed effortlessly (pardon the pun). I couldn’t be happier and highly recommend doing business with this company.

Rare Breed Plumbing is awesome. Came out and was able to install a part for my outside water hookup. Talked through all the other options and gave me best thoughts and interest. Also was able to talk about other plumbing things I wanted to get addressed. Super fast and reliable.
